Icky Thump
by
White Stripes
I felt obliged to write my own review for this song. As said in other drum reviews for this song, Icky Thump is definitely not one of the worst songs in the game for drums. However, that is far from saying that it is a good drum song, or even decent at that. While not the worst, the song is still bad.

When half of a song is nothing more than a constant bass beat with the occasional double hit on the cymbal, I find it hard to call it decent. The other half of the song is a steady beat on the blue, with some bass and the occasional red snare hit. These parts are scattered throughout the song and are balanced evenly with their overly boring counterpart. Neither part seems to last more than 30 seconds at a time, and neither part shows any signs of anything above average. In fact, the slow constant bass beat part is horrid, and the steady blue beat part is only average. So overall, you have a song that is half crap, half average, which in my book is a bad drum song (certainly not the worst, but bad nonetheless).

Other reviews stated that Meg White is only meant to keep the beat, which is totally understandable. However, when it comes to making a song that is good for Rock Band, keeping the beat may not be the answer. What amazed me the most is that one review even stated that this was in no way a pack for drummers, yet still gave the song a "Good" rating for drums.

Don't get me wrong, I like the song and love to play it on guitar, but this is definitely not a song for drums. You definitely should not even be looking at the pack if you are strictly a drummer. It is a bad drum song, no doubt about it. Only half of a song being average is not enough to save it in my opinion, so I'm not going to deceive you with a "Good" rating.

The End
by
Pearl Jam
This review is for the Orches... Bass part of Pearl Jam's newest song, The End.

Much like the drums in this song, the bass doesn't exist! However, unlike the drums, there isn't a "No Part" tag under its difficulty...

From what I heard, they chart the orchestra in the song as bass. This has been done before, such as in The Beatles: Rock Band. While the orchestra part may work in I Am the Walrus, it most certainly does not work here.

Long held notes. That's all you play. The song is in no way exciting. Like I usually do, I will now go more in depth:

First, you hold two of the frets (yes, they are all chord sustains). Then you strum. Then you (Get ready!) hold those frets for a certain amount of time. Then you hold down the next two frets, and (Hope I'm not going too fast...) strum that note too. Hold those frets down. Rinse and repeat.

There you go. That's basically all this song is. Did I blow you mind? Did I convince you to buy it? Well, I surely hope not because it sucked.

Thank You Boys
by
Jane's Addiction
Thank You Boys is the third (if I am not mistaken) song to be added to the list of short, minute long songs. The song only has one line to sing on vocals, and is over as quickly as it starts. While this may influence others to write generic low-star reviews simply on the premise of "This song sucks, it is only 1 minute long!!!1", I will admit that this song is fun on drums.

The drum beat has this very catchy and very jazzy sounding tune to it, which brings both fun and good sound to the mix. Sure, if you were playing the same beat for a full length song, I could see it getting boring, but for a song one minute in length, it is fun. You start with this little double hit thing (I don't really know how to describe it other than "jazzy") on the blue and red pads. About half way through the song (pretty short when you think about it) you will start doing this very simple, but very fun triple beat on the red followed by hitting the crash cymbal. After that the song just gets kinda random (as in it switches it up), spanning across all four pads as you keep a similar double beat, but hitting different pads, such as yellow and green. Then a whole ten seconds later, you get to the ending, a very "combo-raping" roll across all 4 pads, speeding up as it goes along.

Sure, my description of the chart may not be that great, but you can just watch a video of it and should be able to get the idea of it.

Honestly though, the chart was fun and was probably the most fun I have had drum-wise on a minute long song in Rock Band. Whether or not you actually buy the song is all up to you. 2 bucks for one minute seems incredibly unreasonable for a price, and it isn't fun enough for me to recommend as a single, but if you were thinking about buying the entire Nothing's Shocking album, just think of this as a nice little drumming bonus. Yes, it is a minute long, but don't let that fool you, Thank You Boys is able to hold its own as a great drumming song.

Fire on the Mountain
by
The Grateful Dead
Fire on the Mountain has a different drum pattern that is pretty rare. You will constantly be playing on the green pad (and this is not with lefty flip; see? different!) while adding in some blue, red, yellow and bass notes throughout the song. This pattern tends to get really fun when they throw you blue, red and yellow notes back to back.

When the song first starts off, the pattern surprised me and brought me much enjoyment while I played the song. However, you will pretty much will be playing the same pattern throughout the whole song, so it can get repetitive. Not saying that this is a bad thing though, if you really enjoy this type of patter, then this song can bring you a great experience that lasts. However, for common drummers (myself included) the fun may be there for the first time you play it, followed by every other play being more tedious than the last.

Honestly the song is great, but probably only great for the first time you play it. Within playing this song about 5 times, I would have already gotten sick of the song. But should you go and spend 2 bucks on this song? Probably not. As I stated earlier, unless you really love this type of pattern, the song will get boring fast. Therefore, a song with little to no replay value isn't really worth buying.

But if you so happen to like the pattern, I present you 2 options:
1. You can buy the song. I would hope for it to never get old for you, so you can drain it for as much fun as you can.
2. Don't buy it, and simply play the intro to Go Your Own Way (found on the Rock Band 2 disc) in practice mode. The opening pattern in Go Your Own Way is pretty much the same pattern (up until the chorus). This will save you 2 bucks and give you that exact same feeling of fun... until you get sick of it...

Uncle John's Band
by
The Grateful Dead
Uncle John's Band is a very relaxing song and is a perfect example of a very easy and simple, yet still fun song.

The song opens with a very soothing guitar and before you know it you are drumming along to the beat. The pattern is for the most part a very simple pattern on the yellow and red pads. It is very much like the patterns you would play in any other song, where you keep the beat on the yellow pad while alternating between the red and bass pedal on every other note. However, they do change it up every now and then. These changes aren't anything complicated (usually just the addition of an extra bass, yellow or red note) but they keep you slightly more interested and maintain a nice level of fun.

Then you will reach the chorus which is where the drums definitely take an amazing change up. You will immediately go to an awesome pattern on the blue and green pads. Like the previous pattern, it isn't anything challenging that you will struggle over, but it is indeed very fun. Plus hearing the percussion is very relaxing while you play. After this pattern, you will reach the climax of the song... the drum solo!

Now if you haven't heard this song before:
1. *slaps you on back of head* What the hell is wrong with you? It is one of their most popular songs and is a classic. Now, now. Don't cry. Why don't you run along and buy the entire Workingman's Dead album before they hunt you down!
2. When I say solo I don't mean intense.

The solo is just pretty basic. Lots of fun little rolls and no bass pedal. You shouldn't fail unless you are a beginner. Side note: this fun yet relaxing solo is over a minute long!

After the solo you just go back into a similar pattern as the opening drum pattern. It is a little more fun here though because there is a part where you hit the red pad on every other yellow.

The song isn't hard, but is a great song to warm up or just have fun and relax. It even sounds soothing. The song can also help the transition to expert.

Take the Money and Run
by
Steve Miller Band
If you have read my vocals review for this song, then you know how much I love Take the Money and Run by the Steve Miller Band. If you haven't read it, then allow me to give you some background info. I love this song like a fat kid loves cake. If it were a woman, I would marry her, caress her, and make sweet love to her, only to find out that she is cheating on me with my Latin gardener and Italian neighbor at the same time and realize that my life has turned into some crazy drama on CBS.

That being said, this song's guitar is a chordfest. A good 98 1/2% is just chords and chord changes. Usually these charts are mediocre and deserve a "decent" rating. However, this song is a great example of a good chordfest. The changes are fun as hell (and somewhat challenging, although not to the point of you failing the song). Maintaining a combo throughout the song can be challenging with some of these faster chord changes. Still, the amount of changes going on make this song highly enjoyable.

The second half of the song contains slightly easier chord changes, but faster alt-strumming. Even these sections are fun and aren't a pain like some other alt-strumming songs. These two patterns of chord changes are pretty much all you play through your magical experience that is Take the Money and Run.

If you are someone like me, who loves these more challenging chord changes and alt-strumming parts, then this is a great song that may be worth looking into if you are looking for that type of song. If you hate challenging chords, and alt-strumming then be wary of your purchase. So it pretty much should all come down to watching the chart yourself and deciding "do I like those charts?"

P.S. I gave it a "good" rating despite me thinking it to be a "great" song, but because I know the other half of players will think it "decent." "Good" was just more of an average, to help encourage you to watch the chart.

Take the Money and Run
by
Steve Miller Band
Pre-review Disclaimer: I still suck horribly at vocals. No Fail is my friend. I will attempt to not screw this up.

Review: Awesome does not even begin to describe this song. It was one hell of a song to sing. Sure, this may come from the fact that it is my favorite Steve Miller song (as I am sure everyone else would rather sing the Joker), but if it wasn't, I am positive that it wouldn't be any less amazing. The lyrics themselves are awesome to sing. They really seemed to flow smoothly and were just a blast. With the addition of the higher pitched "Whoo-hoos," this song is incredible. Plus, coming from a person like me who fails the easiest of songs, the song wasn't that hard. Sure, easy difficulty will not bring the same amount of challenge as expert (which is what I assume most of you sing on), but I assume that the difficulty would hopefully translate so that you have the same fun and easy experience as I had. Take the Money and Run is definitely an amazing vocals song that I would recommend. And it may not mean much but, any song that forces me to whip out my mic and sing and then even write a review for it immediately gets "Splync's Badge of Awesome" and is worth checking out!

You're No Rock N Roll Fun
by
Sleater-Kinney
Where do I begin? You know those songs that are 100% chick songs. Well, this is the perfect example of one of those songs. Being a dude, it annoys me. However, I have made it my job to not critique the song based off of its sounds, but instead off of its chart.

The chart is a pretty basic guitar chart. It is mostly just chord changes, but even these aren't that bad. They do seem really simple and the patterns of the changes are very repetitive throughout the whole song. The good news is that the changes have your fingers moving around the fretboard enough to not be boring as hell. These chords are basic enough to probably piss off and annoy the really skilled players who play air guitar to heavy metal tunes and eat babies for breakfast, so you should stay away from this song if you are one of those players. However, if you aren't one of those people, then you may enjoy this song as a laid back guitar track.

But all I have talked about so far was chord changes, which isn't the whole song. There are also some single notes that you will be playing in between the chords. These notes aren't anything challenging and are still repetitive, but bring enough variety to keep you medically alive. There is even this little hammer-on/ pull-off that you will do every now and then. Still, nothing challenging to the average player.

There is even a solo in the song, which brings a nice break to the chord changes. It may be repetitive, and short, but it is still a solo and it will bring nice moral support.

In the end, the song isn't anything everyone should rush to buy. It is a nice laid back, easy guitar track, but there are better ones as DLC. I also found that the chord changes and HO/PO are great for beginners to get better at higher difficulties (a job that I had previously saved for El Scorcho). And while I might not like the sound of the song, you may. If you are a chick, or just like chick songs then this may interest you. Still, it is an overall average song.

Body I Occupy
by
Naked Brothers Band
Okay. As I stand here waiting to be pelted with rocks let me start off by saying that this song is garbage. The fact that this song was put into Rock Band is a joke and I actually think that Nickelodeon must be paying Harmonix some serious dough for them to toss this in here. I despise these kid bands, especially those who get their own "documentary" on a kiddie channel. The singer's voice annoys the hell out of me and anyone else with functioning ears. The only way you can possible enjoy listening to this song is if you are under the age of 10, but since the game itself is rated "T" I will say it is safe to say most of us aren't.

Now for the beating:

On drums, this song kicks ass! It is one of the funnest drum songs of the week in my opinion (although I still have neglected the two Spanish songs...) The fact that the drummer is 10 really surprises me. May he live a happy, successful life and then overdose by the age of 35 like all the other big celebs!

The main pattern of the song is a very basic beat, but is one of those beats that is still fun no matter how many times you play it. For the most part the beat is the same for most of the song, but will just occasionally switch between pads. Near the middle of the song is definitely where most of the "awesome" comes out to play. You will start adding some really bass pedal parts, and some incredible rolls. Sure, "what is so special about rolls" you are probably saying right now, but some of the rolls go from the blue pad to the green (on righty by the way), and they are some of the most fun rolls I have played since Rio. There is also this crazy fast bass beat at one point that reminded me of a metal song's bass (fast in between the notes). The song ends amazingly with a weird pattern on the red, yellow, and blue pads (like a roll with a single note on each pad) and a fun pattern that reminded me of Go You Own Way.

In the end, it is a fun drum song. Just mute your TV...

Dr. Feelgood
by
Motley Crue
Dr. Feelgood on drums is like Down At the Whiskey in the sense that it is a casual, easy drum beat that is incredibly fun because of the bass pattern with it.

Your hands will follow a few patterns throughout the whole song. Each pattern is pretty consistent and there is nothing challenging.

The bass on the other hand, has a weird beat that is thrown in the middle of the drum patterns and makes the whole song a blast. The double bass hits that you will be hitting aren't very fast and are actually quite easy and fun.

An amazing (and easy) drum song that can accepted by drummers everywhere.

Down At The Whisky
by
Motley Crue
This song's drum pattern is something that you don't usually see. Sure the pattern isn't as hard as the drums in Saints of Los Angeles, and sure, it isn't an amazing Tommy Lee song but it is still fun. In fact, for some unknown reason, I actually enjoy this song's drums over those of Saints of Los Angeles. Now I am sure everyone else disagrees with me, but I couldn't give a damn about what everyone else thinks, being MY review of the song.

First and foremost, this song has a strange bass beat. During most of the song, the bass is a slower double bass, but during the chorus (which is the most fun part of the song in my opinion) the bass has some quicker double hits that are thrown in between the already existing bass beat. It isn't anything that will make you fail horribly as you cry for the sharp pains in your foot (that is what Painkiller is for) but it can mess up your combo in the choruses. Plus, to tell you the truth, the bass beat is the best part of the whole song.

The drums themselves aren't anything challenging (although there is this one little drum fill that I can never do; where it is like a fast mini-roll on the blue/yellow pads) and are actually pretty easy alone, but combined with the bass, the drums are incredible.

I would definitely recommend this song to anyone who is a Crue fan. Yes I find the drums highly enjoyable, but only Crue fans will probably agree with me.

Holiday In Cambodia
by
Dead Kennedys
A Message to the Reader:
Upon realizing that my reviews lacked vocal reviews, I decided that I should write one up. Yes, I am aware it is on Easy, but I can't risk unleashing my true singing potential and break the contract I signed after me and the rest of the Backstreet Boys disbanded... and because I am horrible at singing. Due to my lack of singing talent, my review may not be up to par, but I will try my best anyways and apologize ahead of time for the quality of the review. Finally, the review!

REVIEW:

Holiday In Cambodia is an amazing vocals song. It is challenging (although I am aware this doesn't say much coming from a guy who can fail Debaser...) with some of its pitch changes. The political lyrics are definitely a blast to sing, which only adds to the fun. If you can, sing the censored parts as well as they complete the song and give you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside (rebel...) and they just feel right. As you are hopefully aware, near the end of the song you will be singing "Pol Pot." Actually, you will be talking it, but it is an amazing talky that is incredibly fun to say. In conclusion, Holiday In Cambodia is a terrific vocals song ranging from various pitches to an incredibly fun talky section near the end. I would definitely recommend this song.

My Hero
by
Foo Fighters
Let me start off by saying that this song makes me angry. The reason is as follows:
- My Hero reminds me of John McCain (who used this song for his campaign).
- John McCain reminds me of politics.
- Politics bring the image of Barack Obama to my mind.
- This then reminds me that our first Chocolate Commander and Chief is going to be a character in Mercenaries 2.
- Mercenaries 2 was published by EA Games.
- EA Games also published Rock Band 2.
- This then brings the thought of the Foo Fighters' album, The Colour and the Shape, to my head as being DLC.
- This pisses me off about its 20 dollar price tag.
On the other hand, I love this song and its chart. This causes my thoughts to contradict themselves and makes the voices in my head argue and fight. But I digress...

This song's chart is an amazing drum chart that may be repetitive but never gets old. Just a warning, this song contains LOTS of constant bass pedal. If I had to compare it to anything, it would probably remind me of You're All I've Got Tonight by the Cars. This song is mostly bass pedal with you hitting the pads in addition. You will hit the same main pattern a lot throughout the song, but it never really gets old.
Then you get to the chorus, which is one of the funnest parts of the song. You will be hitting double pads in between breaks in the foot pedal. If this sounds confusing to you, just watch a video of the chart and you will understand. It isn't anything challenging but it incredibly fun nonetheless.
Near the end of the song you will start to hit the red and green pads and the pedal at the same time, which is still fun. You will probably get that feeling of "building up for something" and you are right, immediately afterward you will do a roll across all of the pads, while keeping your beat with the foot pedal. It is one of the funnest fills I have hit, for its timing alone. After that you will just work back into the chorus pattern.
In the end it is a fun drum song for everyone.

Dammit
by
Blink-182
*grasps hand*
DAMMIT! AAAAHHH! *censored*
*places ice pack on arm*
MOTHER *heavily censored*

Dammit is the most perfectly named song I have seen because after you are done playing it on drums you will be yelling "DAMMIT" or "GOD DAMMIT."

I eagerly bought the song hoping for a challenge, instead the song rapes your arm and makes you cry. This song is not hard, but it IS too damn fast. The song will make the muscles in your arm bleed.

This song is like a kid twice your size that has both uncontrollable anger issues and schizophrenia. He will break your arms and watch you squeal, and while you are lying on the ground waiting for him to finish you off, he will mend your arms and try to connect with you by singing the line, "I'm flailing now" (I am not kidding, listen to the song!). He then nurtures you back to good health through the chorus (which is easily the best and easiest part of the song). But just once you think that he has improved and is all nice and fun, "Mr. Happy" goes away and he beats you to a pulp with the next verse. As you lie there, writhing in pain, he hands you a lollipop and helps you back up with the next chorus. The same pattern follows the whole song!

The song is very fast notes, involving your right arm going into convulsions on the yellow (and occasionally blue) pad, while your left arm is beating along on the red pad and your foot is doing this double hit. Then there is the chorus which is easily the best and easiest part of the song. If you can do well here, you can get back into green and prepare the the same fast change up ahead.

Think song is too tiring and painful to be considered good in my book, and it would have gotten 1 star if not for the awesome choruses. If you like that burning feeling you get when you rub your arm into the asphalt as you speed down the highway, then this is the song for you!

Pretty in Pink
by
The Psychedelic Furs
You know, until I saw that this song was being compared to I Think I'm Paranoid I would have never have thought of that comparison. But this has got me thinking, and do you know what this song is similar too?
*Don't say I Think I'm Paranoid*
*Don't say I Think I'm Paranoid*

... I Think I'm Paranoid... kinda. I shall show you through the magical world of MATH!
The verses of Pretty in Pink follows a constant yellow, red pattern with I Think I'm Paranoid, with the exception of the bass pedal, which is in different spots. The choruses are different however, since I Think I'm Paranoid had that fun red-blue section that would pop up, while Pretty in Pink has some incredibly easy "bass then hit 2 pads" thing. So if Pretty in Pink = I Think I'm Paranoid and I Think I'm Paranoid is by Garbage, therefore, due to the transitive property Pretty in Pink = garbage! *gasps for breath* Isn't math fun?

However, in my bland random run-down on how this song is very similar to a song in Rock Band 1 in most aspects except the choruses, I have seemed to have left out one small detail. The song is actually fun! Believe it or not, there are songs out there that are easy, yet fun. Difficulty does NOT equal how good the song is, like the *cough* Weezer songs.

This song is the perfect way to ease your way through the game but still have fun. It is great for breaks and warming up. However there are two exceptions for not getting this song:

1. You own Rock Band 1 or have the songs on your HD. The verses are similar, and honestly, I Think I'm Paranoid is much more fun.

2. It is too easy for your tastes. The song is incredibly easy, and may not be worth the two bucks to some people. While I enjoy the song on drums and think it is a great way to relax, others may think "Gah! That song is hideous. More Visions now!" Well that is fine. But to check yourself for this, just watch the videos.

Polly

"What do you mean there is no 0 star button?!?"
*puts gun in mouth; Chris dashingly pulls gun away*
"NO! One bullet! That is all I need! Damn it, I can't live with myself after this!"
*faces audience and acts startled*
Hey everybody! Didn't see you there! So you want to know about Polly on expert drums. Well, lets start with the positives!
*confetti shoots out while "POSITIVES" is sang by announcer*
- Well, if you don't like the foot pedal then you are in luck! Just unplug it. You won't need it were you are going!
- Plus this song is the best song to prove your skill by playing with your head, feet, or other unnamed appendages. I guarantee that you won't fail.
- And best of all, if you have to go to the bathroom, this is the song to go. You will have 2 minutes and 56 seconds to do whatever you want at no cost. Read a book, watch TV, cry about the poor choices you have made in your recent DLC purchase, anything you want! It is not like your lack of contributing 200 points is doing anything important...
What's that? 200 points? Yep! 8 notes is all you play throughout the entire song. You hit the yellow and green pad (red and blue for you lefties out there) a total of 4 times. You can't even fail if you don't play anything at all. This song is so easy, it makes Silver look like Run to the Hills! Of course, this is the easiest song to FC on expert drums (my sister plays on medium and still FCed it!). However, if you plan on buying it for that reason alone then you should just smack yourself in the head altogether. Sure, if you are a major Nirvana fan, you might want to get it. But if you only play drums, DON'T! Unless you bought it in the pack. This right here is the perfect example of worst standalone drums song in the game. If you were seriously considering buying this alone, I would much rather recommend Silver (which is just a step above). Oh, I forgot the best thing you could do during this song. Read this review and rethink you life...

This song is probably the best guitar song this week. This song's main riff is single note changes, that are not HO/PO. These riffs basically are the same the whole song, although it is more interesting than the guitar for the other two songs. Also, the chorus consists of some held notes in addition to some chord changes. Still repetitive, but worth the dollar.

You know that song where you are basically just constantly strumming to changing chords, well this is that song. That is basically what this song is. It is well worth the dollar price but is probably not worth 2 dollars.

Oh yeah, this is the only song this week to contain a solo, if that is what you call it. It is just held notes the whole time following a very repetitive pattern.

The most boring of the guitar tracks for this week. It is just short bursts of alt-strumming single notes with some chords thrown in. There are also breaks where the guitarist doesn't play anything at all. Really a song that guitarists should avoid.

The Knack
The guitar riff that almost everybody should recognize. It isn't anything challenging, and can make the song seem like a walk in the park. The first solo is fun, but is a joke to play. The song up to the second solo is maybe worth 3 stars. The second solo, however, is one of the funnest solos that I have played in this game. It can be challenging to newcomers, but is really what makes this song so awesome.

Another song consisting of chords. It is a simple song, that is still fun on guitar. I don't know why people tend to hate this song. Sure, it is kind of annoying to listen to and kind of easy to play, but is still fun nonetheless. It also has a solo that is easy and simple but still strangely fun...

Chords and strumming is all that is really in this song. It isn't challenging. It is fun, but nothing great. On the other hand, it isn't really bad either. Just a mediocre guitar song that is slightly fun.

Better than Dirty Little Secret in all aspects. Sure it has its fair share of constant chords and strumming, but this song also has some really fun HO/PO. This song is a better song overall, and is worth picking up regardless of whether or not you are a fan of the band.

CHORDS AND CHORDS AND CHORDS!!! That is all this song is. It is still a fun song to play, and is incredibly easy. But damn, all there are are freaking chords! This was worth the one dollar price tag, but since it is now 2 dollars this song is only really worth it to fans of the band.

Chords and fast strumming. Just in the same sense of the other 30 Seconds to Mars song. However, this one also has occasional HO/PO which are really fun. This song is overall a fun guitar song, but not challenging. If you has to pick a 30 Seconds to Mars song, this should be it. Other than that, this song might only be for fans.

Constant strumming and chord changes. That is the whole song. It is very simple and is in no way challenging. However, this song has a fun guitar to it. This is the type of song that is fun, but isn't really worth buying unless you want to own every song or are a 30 Seconds to Mars fan.

Constant Motion
by
Dream Theater
Looking for a song that will make you urinate blood violently or make you throw your guitar at the nearest window or television? Then look no further, for Constant Motion is here!

You are probably wondering, with such a negative opening, how come you gave this song a 5? Patience, my friend. Patience.

This song opens up with some faster strumming and single notes that go up and down your fret board. They are not HO/PO, which can make the opening a pain in the ass. They are probably my least favorite part in the song, due to their aggravation.

This is followed by the main guitar riff, which consists of a triple note followed by some chord changes. This part's pattern seems incredibly unorganized and is very easy to mess up. I myself can't even keep up a combo in this part.

The choruses are probably the easiest part of the whole song on guitar. Some fast strumming and chord changes. This part can also be aggravating, due to the fast strumming. If you only downstrum, your hand will kill after this part.

Similar triple patterns ensue, followed by some strange HO/PO patterns that are very fast and can be hard to do for novice players.

Then we get to the solo. It opens with some held notes and then immediately goes into some tricky HO/PO. During your first attempt at the song, these may be tricky, causing you to use Overdrive. Then it hits you with a spasm of fast HO/PO followed by a huge freaking wall of notes. Just when you thought you were safe, Rock Band kicks you in the ass and makes you fail.

After the solo, if you can get past, is the main riff of triples and chord changes. The song ends with a final chorus of alt-strumming to chord changes.

This song is worthy of one star due to its aggravation and the pain it will bring. It is a "for experts only song" that can make novice players cry. However, if you can pull it off and pass, it is one of the most rewarding and fun experiences on guitar. It is an amazing song if you can pass it. A true gem

Similar to the other Priest bass songs along the lines that it requires alt-strumming and follows the same basic pattern throughout. However, this one is different. Instead of the same constant strumming one note, you strum one note repeatedly in triplets. While not that big of a difference this "Run to the Hills lite" song is actually fun to play on bass, although it is repetitive.

The riffs and choruses aren't that challenging, and are incredibly fun. The solo is really where this song shines. It can be challenging if you don't expect it and is a really fun, awesome solo. The best part is probably the end of the solo which has you going up and down the fretboard with HO/PO. A really great guitar song that, while not too challenging, is still a blast to play.

Judas Priest
Another classic Judas Priest song on bass. Constant strumming that requires alt-strumming. The song doesn't really change it up and you don't really get that "contributing to the band" feeling while playing this song. Honestly, the hardest parts on bass are the choruses because of some notes changing, and those parts are easy. All in all, a decent, simple, yet still kind of fun song.

Fun riffs, and an awesome solo. The solo may be challenging to some, but is incredibly fun to play. There are also some HO/PO sections after the solo which make this an awesome guitar song. Even the held notes are still fun due to the awesome song itself. Definitely a buyer for guitar players. This song makes this album shine.

By listening to the drum opening you would think that this song would have you pissing blood on the drums. However, you wouldn't be correct. The opening roll is this song's best redeeming quality on the drums. Other than that, the song follows the same pattern of faster drumming with bass pedal thrown in. Don't get me wrong, this drum pattern is really fun, it is hard enough you keep you from having your mind wander, but easy enough that you can enjoy the beauty of the song while you play. In the end this is a great drum song that if you could only pick a few Priest songs, this would be one of them.

Rio
by
Duran Duran
This song... this song... is AMAZING! Looking for a challenge, then this is a song for you. Remember the song Outside? It was one of the Bonus songs on the disc. Well, Rio is similar to that. It consists of long rolls with other pads thrown in. It also has some pass pedal thrown in as well.

When the song first starts off the rolls are simple. Just red pad rolls with an occasional blue and bass note. Then you hear the song start to get awesome and you find yourself only doing rolls on the red pad. You probably think, "Wow it got easier!" Well you would be right for about 2 seconds. All of a sudden a similar pattern erupts with the addition of the yellow pad and a hell of a lot more bass notes. The bass is kind of tossed in there in just the perfect way that it seems random until you get the pattern. The pattern can take some practice but one you get it, the bass is fun as hell. *WARNING* I failed this song multiple times due to the bass! Unless you can get the pattern down, it will probably screw you up!*BACK TO REVIEW* After the chorus you will find your self back at the easier, and simple red rolls with blue note and bass pattern. Although it may not seem like a break, trust me, it is. The pattern will then continue for another chorus. Then you will find yourself in a slower drum part. Not a roll in site! "It's okay, you can relax and build up your overdrive and crowd meter now. All you have to fear is over..." Then BOOM! Back to the fast roll part. The patterns and changes correspond for the rest of the song, until you end the song on another slower drum part.

For those drums maniacs out there, this is a perfect song. Now I know this review sounds similar to my Girls on Film review, but it's not! Rio is harder than Girls on Film in the bass pedal section, and is overall more fun if you can pass! If you are a drummer and are stuck between getting Rio or Girls on Film, get Rio. It was more fun and harder. Just a warning though, you're arms will kill la

Girls on Film

Duran Duran
I actually managed to beat this song on expert earlier, since it had been bugging me all day. I am glad I did though. For someone who normally plays on expert, playing on hard just didn't seem right. Well here we go:

This song's drums main pattern are constant drum rolls on the red pad, with some yellow and blue thrown in. Alone the rolls make this song worth picking up for drummers. Flailing yours arms to the beat is incredibly fun and can give your arms quite a workout. But wait there's more! There is also some bass pedal notes thrown in during the rolls at a very strange pattern that can take some getting used to. The first time I saw the bass pedal it confused me, however, once you get the hang of it, it feels great. Altogether, the rolls combined with the bass pedal make on of the funnest, challenging drum songs that I have played. Anyone, looking for a challenge will love the rolls.

Plus, in addition to the rolls, there are slower, easier parts during the choruses that can be a nice relaxing break from the rolls. They aren't over-the-top challenging and seem to be there to raise your Overdrive and Crowd Meter. This slower drum pattern is quite relaxing and is also fun to play. In the end the rolls with the slow parts in the middle makes an ideal song that is great fun. Sure, the pattern is really repetitive (the rolls are basically the same throughout), but the rolls are so much fun that you can look past the repetition and just enjoy the beauty of the drum track for Girls on Film.

This song, is probably the most fun, in that challenging sort of way, out of all of this week's songs. If you are looking for a full-out drum challenge that will make you cry yourself to sleep, you may want to look at the Thrash songs. But if you are looking for a drum song that is challenging (the rolls are actually similar to those in Burn), but also a blast to play on the other instruments and is also a catchy 80s hit, then Girls on Film is the song for you.

An average guitar song. It isn't overly complicated (basically just some chord changing and some HO/POs) but it still really fun all the same. I personally enjoyed it more in Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s but it is still a good guitar song here. Just don't expect a challenge...

Girls on Film

Another hard Duran Duran song, another time I have to bump it down a difficulty and cry. Girls on Film will challenge expert players and bring fun all at the same time. However, Girls on Film is better than Rio on drums (from a hard standpoint, that is). It has similarly awesome drum patterns that are still a blast on even hard drums. However, there is one thing that this song has that Rio didn't, more variety! I found that there was more variety in Girls on Film than in Rio and it made it all better. If you are looking for a challenge with variety, or just a great 80s tune, look no further than Girls on Film!

Rio

This song on expert makes me cry. It is too hard for me. Not the "ready to punt small animals" hard, but the "that was actually fun, and I want to get better at it" hard. So I had no choice but to move down to hard difficulty. Usually I don't enjoy songs on hard, but the Duran Duran songs were exceptions. This song is even a blast on hard. The patterns are not too challenging, but are fun through and through. Like most of the other songs this week, repetition is found throughout. However, the patterns are so fun that I didn't even pay attention to the repetition. A fun repetitive song is a good song. Rio will bring you fun and some challenge (especially if you play on expert!) and is one of the better tracks from this week. If you are looking for some great 80s music and also a challenge, pick this one up.

So hard that I had to go down a level. On hard, this song isn't really all that challenging (however, I play on expert, so I guess it might be challenging to those on hard). What I really noticed about the song is that it may be a harder song, but it is really just the same patterns over and over again. Another Classic Priest song. Except this time, not only does it change it up every now and then, but it is faster, requires alt-strumming and is an enjoyable bass line. If you can't alt-strum then you probably won't be able to keep a streak going (and it can be challenging to keep it going even while alt-strumming). This is another track where the bassist may get bored, but can still be interesting to play.

My favorite guitar track from the Screaming For Vengeance album. Not because it is the hardest (it is not!), but because I find it the most fun on guitar. The opening song (The Hellion) is a great start up for the guitar. It isn't challenging but sounds great and is a great warm-up. The song that follows is by far the catchiest of the songs, and its guitar track just feels and sounds the best. The solo has to be the best part, because it is challenging (not "YOU GONNA FAIL!!!" challenging) and a great song to play with the solo keys.

Classic Priest Song. (n.) Klas-ick Pree-east Saw-ung. - 1. An amazing guitar, drums, or vocals track from a song by the band Judas Priest. 2. Repetitive bass track sustaining one note constantly throughout a whole song by the band Judas Priest.

Usually I would just follow the definition and say that the song is highly repetitive, but that is not the case here. This song is highly repetitive and has the bassist playing the blue note throughout most of the song. However, unlike some other Priest songs, this one actually changes it up more than usual, making the song more fun. It is a great Priest track for the bassist to feel appreciated. But be warned, it isn't that exciting!

When someone says Classic Judas Priest, it is usually a good thing. Fun guitar, drums and vocals. In the case of the bass, Classic Priest is not a good thing. It is just the same note over and over *cough*red*cough*. It will rarely change to another note, but when it does it is only for a few seconds and then it goes right back to red. While, everyone else in the band is rocking out, the bassist just stands there playing one note like a toddler banging sticks together. You probably are wondering, "then why Splync are you giving it 2 star?" The answer for that is that the song is still a great song. The song without the bass just doesn't sound the same, so you get to feel yourself contributing to the greatness of the band. This is the type of song that even when you are playing the same note it can still be fun.

As much as I hate Fall Out Boy, I actually enjoyed this song's guitar. In short, it is catchy and chord-tastic. It is the type of song that you play for fun, not challenge. Great 80's song that sounds great to listen to, but is not necessarily that great to play on guitar. When the song starts you hear the drums, which sound amazing, and think, "Wow, that sounds awesome. I can't wait to see the guitar." Then you actually get some notes. The very first thing that comes rolling down the board is a green/orange chord. You think to yourself, "WHOA! This is rare and kind of different but I love it!" Then you get to the fast alt strumming section, which is awesome and fun and the following held notes are a nice little break between bursts. You think, "Okay, the guitar is interesting enough. This is a really fun song," and you would be right. That is, except for one little detail: You repeat that same pattern throughout the whole song! The whole thing is just repetition at its finest. However, don't instantly think, "Oh, a repetitive song. *looks upset* How disappointing..." because that is not the case. Repetitive? Yep. But fun? Yep. Although, you play basically the same thing over and over again, it is still really fun. In the end, whether or not you buy the song should all come down to whether or not you are a fan of the song. If you enjoy this 80's music then you will love the song and can get by the repetition. However, if you hate the 80's, wish they never happened, and hoped that the year 1979 turned into 1990 on January 1st, then you should probably stay away from this song.

The bass is what really drags this song down. Not that the bass is bad it is just too simple. It is just alt strumming to chains of single notes throughout the whole song. Simple is not always a bad thing. This song proves it. The pattern is incredibly simple, with a steady bass pedal to top it off. All together, the drums are fun switching between pads during the verses. The poor man's AC/DC. Sure, Airbourne does sound very similar to AC/DC, and that is not a bad thing. Runnin' Wild is by far the easiest track from the Roadrunner Pack, but that is not a bad thing either. The guitar is simple, consisting of chords, riffs, the normal stuff you would find in a hard rock song. It isn't hard, but it sure as hell is fun! The fact that the guitar not only sounds great but is also easier and fun makes this song a highly recommended song that is, in fact "the poor man's AC/DC." It is definitely a fun song. It is catchy, as it is fun. The beginning really isn't hard, although something about the guitar I just loved and found fun as hell. Around the middle is when you are hit with the first abortion of notes. They are harder to hit and it can make you fail very easily. Without practice or Overdrive, you could very well fail. However, something about that random rain of chords is incredibly fun. Also, around the end of the song are some HO/PO, in my opinion they seem really out of place, but they are fun and add some more challenge to the song. The song can be a great addition to your DLC library.

Repetitive, that is all I can really say. It isn't the fun kind of repetitive, just the boring "when does it end" kind. Unfortunately, unlike the other Pixies songs, this one is longer, dragging out the boredom.

Drums start out slow but then turn into a faster part. The faster part isn't necessarily challenging, but is fun.

The Greatest Man That Ever Lived

Imagine that! A Weezer song that has drums that change. These drums are incredibly fun. There are not too challenging but change frequently and are always fun. Although there are a couple parts where there is a break and no notes.

This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race

Fall Out Boy
So the song starts off. It is slow but strangely fun, but too easy. Then it gets fast quickly and is a very fun pattern for the drums. Repeat this precess and you have basically the whole song. It has its slow parts followed by fun, fast parts. To top it off, it has an amazing roll that is incredibly fun.

Why Do You Love Me?

Fun and different. It changes and keeps you entertained the whole way through. As much as I hated I Think I'm Paranoid, I love this song on drums.

Repetitive. That is what this song's drums are. However, they are the fun kind of repetitive. There is also a very fun part with the pedal, blue and green notes. However, due to the lack of variety, I can't give this over 2 stars.

The drums during the verses can be challenging if you don't get the beat. But it still really fun. The chorus' are easy but still fun to play. All in all, this a great drum song. Not too challenging, but fun.

Remember Hysteria? A song that had an amazing bass line filled to the brim with HO/POs. Well, this song's bass is very similar, although much easier. Constant HO/PO chains make this song incredibly fun and never boring. This is the bassist's time to shine!

Fun riffs? Check. Fun HOs/POs? Check. Catchy? Check. This song is a great song all around. Its verses are chord changes that are neither too challenging, or too boring. These are followed by HO/PO chains that are amazing to play, as well to listen to.

Basically the same as the guitar minus the good solo. This song is basically just long held notes over and over again. However, I still find it a decent bass line. Repetitive, yet fun.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG NOTES!!! That is what a great percentage of the song is. Just the same old held notes over and over and over again. Sure, it is kind of fun but is really just annoying. That is, until you get to the solo. The solo is really fun and definitely a change from the rest of the song.

Fun drums. It changes it up constantly and never really becomes boring. In the end, the drums are really this song's savior.

A repetitive pattern that is in most of the song. However, this pattern is still very fun, and does change up in certain parts. The guitar solo marks the best part of the drums in my opinion, and the part that follows (with a steady, constant bass pedal) is fun as hell. Another good drum song all in all.

Basically the same pattern and beat throughout the whole song. However, this beat is actually fun although it is repetitive.

ONE NOTE!!! That is all you hit! I hope you like listening to the song, because that is all you will really do while playing its drums. When 5 stars is only 20,000 points, you know the song is bad.

Through Being Cool

Talk about repetition. There is only one pattern that you really play throughout the whole song. There are some drum rolls which makes the song a little more fun, but in the end the song is just plain repetition. The pattern is fun for the first 30 seconds of the song but after that, I just the song to end.

Horrible song in my opinion... but fun as hell drums. I didn't expect much after playing the other instruments but the drums are really this songs saving grace. It has enough change to make the song interesting (although the changes are a little repetitive). Plus the double-bass part at the end is incredibly fun, and gives your leg a work out.

What can I say? It is an annoying song to listen to, although that can't affect my guitar review. Chords. That is what this song is basically composed of. Chords and just constant strumming. Some changes in the notes makes the song not bad to play, but it is still not good to play either. All in all it is a very mediocre song on guitar.
