The RBN Beta hit one hell of a landmark today, as Flogging Molly’s “Drunken Lullabies” officially hit Approved status and put us at a whopping 100 songs available for purchase the day RBN launches. Considering that the week RB2 came out we had a “mere” 96 songs between the disk and DLC, that’s one hell of an achievement, and that doesn’t even count the stuff that will pass between now and the actual launch day. There’s still a bunch of stuff in the pipeline being charted and tested- see my other post three down, which I’ll continue to update- but this is what will 100% be there the day the store opens.
So, RBDLC, what are your day one purchases? Just in case you don’t have the list memorized, I’ve re-posted them below.

-Kyle A.

Definitely Drunken Lullabies and Kick Some Ass, probably Footloose & Fancy Free and For the Love of God, other than that have to do some listening.
@Kyle A.- RBDLC News Editor
Got it. Sorry for the repost then. I thought that the fact that the NY Times was mentioning it yet again (after the previous denials by Harmonix) meant something but you’re probably right.
They have a 30 day exclusivity on the 360, so wait 30 days before rioting please
I’m also on PS3, but highlights for me from the list are :
Bill Bruford’s Earthworks – “Footloose and Fancy Free”
Andrew Buch – “Trippolette”
Glass Hammer – “Hyperbole”
Skindred – “Stand for Something”
The Slip – “Even Rats”
Stars of Boulevard – “Limousine”
I don’t get people saying they’ll wait for charts cause there’s quite a few… even some with full charts for the whole song. And people who don’t like something before they check it out?!… the fear of the unknown really rampant here!
It sucks for the lack of RBN news for PS3, but I actually don’t mind the two day wait for DLC. All the Xbox users make the charts for us to weight our purchase decisions. And with the announcement on Friday mornings for the following week’s songs, you can decide if you want to save some cash for the next week.
My beef with the PSN is I wish they would update sooner than 5-6pm EST. When do they work? Do they party on Wednesdays and are hungover all day Thursday? We get vids from Xbox peeps as early as 8am EST on Tuesdays so… WTF is that all about?
Not too much of this list is all that great to me….however I understand it may be to some. I will definitely get the Flogging Molly songs and maybe some of The Main Drag. That’s about it here.
haven’t heard any of these songs!!!! we need more popular, well known artist!!!!
@Jay
I’ve never understood why the Xbox LIVE Marketplace updates at 4 am central. I always wished it woud update at midnight, so I could buy songs I really want and play them before I go to bed. Waiting ’til 4 is tiring.
Day 1: KMFDM tracks, Kristin Hersh, MC Frontalot…
Day 2 and beyond – obsessively listening to every song and looking at the charts to see what I want next!
There’s definitely a lot coming down the pipe that I’m interested in, too: RevCo, Hyro Da Hero, Smashing Pumpkins…and there’s so much good stuff I’ve never heard before that it’s a little overwhelming…
Definitely pick up Bif Naked and Of Montreal. Will have to listen to the rest. Most anxious for Wheatus and Band of Skulls.
@Dangisuckatgamin
I’m definitely not rich. $100 isn’t that much money. Especially considering how much it will increase my RB Library. I’ve been waiting for this since summer. Even buy every song is not that unreasonable. Assuming of course you have a job and you not 10-16 years old. I’m probably twice your age.
3 Inches Of Blood – “Battles And Brotherhood”
Amberian Dawn – “He Sleeps in a Grove”
Amberian Dawn – “River of Tuoni”
Five Finger Death Punch – “Burn It Down”
Flogging Molly – “Drunken Lullabies (Live)”
Flogging Molly – “Requiem For A Dying Song”
In This Moment – “Mechanical Love”
KMFDM – “A Drug Against War”
KMFDM – “Juke Joint Jezebel”
Lacuna Coil – “Survive”
Skeletonwitch – “Crushed Beyond Death”
Steve Vai – ALL
Suicide Silence – “Disengage”
I will probably buy all the metal I can get my hands on, or that the PS3 will allow lol
Yikes. Whay a bunch of meh. Maybe a few on there, waiting for Sunny Day Real Estate, Conchords, other stuff. Nothing on this list really jumps out at me.
Indigo Girls by Reverend Horton Heat may have just been approved (need some confirmation though). If so, that goes on my day-1 buy list.
is there anyway to post these so we know what songs were recently added? It went from 108 to 111 today but we have no way of knowing what those songs were!
Do I actually need to comment on this (and its like) anymore? :rolleyes:
I’ll give each of them a chance, but Amberian Dawn, Jonathan Coulton and Bill Bruford’s Earthworks are definitely day 1 purchases.
@timottttt
Sorry, I’ve been a bit distracted today.
Comin’ down the pipeline…
* Emarosa- “Heads Or Tails, Real Or Not” -Post-Hardcore
* The New Regime- Take Control -Power Pop
* The New Regime- Tap Dancing in a Minefield -Power Pop
Approved-
Carl Douglas- “Too Hot To Handle” | Rock/Funk | Video
Difficulties: Guitar – 3, Bass – 2, Drums – 3, Vocals – 4, Band – 2
The Main Drag – “Homosuperior” | Indie Rock/Indie Rock | Video
Difficulties: Guitar – 4, Bass – 2, Drums – 3, Vocals – 5, Band – 3
MC Frontalot – “Goth Girls” | Other/Other | Video
Difficulties: Guitar – 4, Bass – 2, Drums – 4, Vocals – 3, Band – 4
Reverend Horton Heat – “Indigo Friends” | Alternate/Alternate | Video
Difficulties: Guitar – 5, Bass – 2, Drums – 5, Vocals – 2, Band – 4
I need Emery on this list.
@coombstone
Spirit Rocks! R.I.P. Randy California.
“Play some Stones, Gonz!”
Five Finger Death Punch – Burn It Down
Flogging Molly – Drunken Lullabies (Live)
Flogging Molly – Requiem For A Dying Song
In This Moment – Mechanical Love
Lacuna Coil – Survive
Senses Fail – Lady In A Blue Dress
Skindred – Stand For Something
For right now It’ll just be the Stroke 9 pack. I grew up in the Chicagoland area and they were kinda big with Little Black Backpack for awhile. They had some concert at the Brookfield Zoo way back when but I never ended up going.
They faded away until that stoner movie came out and Kick Some Ass grew on me. So those two songs are a MUST.
i will probably pick up a couple main drag songs after i see the charts. might also get steve vai, 3 inches of blood, and flogging molly.
Jonathan Coulton – “Ikea” | Rock/Folk Rock | Music Video
Difficulties: Guitar – 2, Bass – 2, Drums – 2, Vocals – 2, Band – 2
I want Code Monkey to hurry up and be approved
Of Montreal… Maybe KMFDM
@Clint (Agnostic)
Nice man, where did you live? I worked at Brookfield Zoo for a good five years! I live on the NW side of the city.
My day 1 purchase is an xbox 360. As soon as I can sell my PS3.
My Day-One Purchases!
• Bill Bruford’s Earthworks – “Footloose and Fancy Free”
• DnA’s Evolution – “The Heist”
• Flogging Molly – “Drunken Lullabies (Live)”
• Of Montreal – “Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse”
• The Shins – “Australia”
Cage9 – dead letters
The Shins, Flogging Molly, 3 Inches of Blood, Flight of Conchords, Smashing Pumpkins.
^ Not Flight of the Conchords obviously because it’s not day one!
Please don’t. Nobody on the forums could care less (or do anything about it for that matter). When you think about it, this would be like XBOX owners griping week after week about the fact that we STILL can’t watch Blu-Ray movies on our consoles. Hey – guess what? You had a choice when you bought your PS3 – please deal with it.
Man i seriously need some Dream Theater, was really hoping i’d see some show up at RBN launch… kinda bummed..
Opeth or some Muse would be nice too.
hear, hear
Day 1s…0…because we don’t get this for at least another month (probably more) on PS3
All of the metal/death metal, of course. Amberian Dawn especially, since I’m a sucker for that operatic metal.
Fake Shark-Real Zombie! will hold the honor of being the first songs I buy. Trippolette for being goddamn awesome, the Bill Bruford track (which gives me an excuse to pull out the sax), and by then I’ll be out of money.
Flogging Molly, Five Finger Deathpunch, and Steve Vie, and Despised icon
@Kyle A.
Will songs in playtesting get approved as artist groupings and not as individual songs?
@cjt217
They get approved individually. The Steve Vai songs, for instance, came out over the course of one week.
@Kyle A.
Thanks, I wasn’t too sure how that part of the process worked!
It would actually be nice if it were the other way around. While it may not matter much to most songs, if you get bands like The Main Drag that are releasing entire albums, you’d get much better publicity by being able to say “entire album available for download on date XYZ” than saying “Entire album available for download eventually… You know, whenever each track gets approved or whatever.”
Just wishful thinking.
IKEA is now on my day-1 buy list. As well as at least one or two amberian dawn songs.
@Adam
do you play 360 or ps3?
All The Main Drag songs and The Shins – Australia. But then I have PS3 so to answer your question nothing on day one for me
I love the demo feature, which saved me some $, but I still ended up buying 15 songs the first day with RBN. So far, I really like these songs, which I had never heard of before:
Icarus, No Direction, Watch it All Go Down
Love RBN.
Morrissey? The Smiths? please please please let me get what I want.
