Completely mixed week here. I love Weezer and really dig their new album, but Beverly Hills is right up there with people who send Message 2 All Friends letters for every small Halo/Uncharted 2 accomplishment they get on the level of things that make me stabby. Similarly, The Yellowcard track is long overdue and will be fantastic on drums, but it’s coming with… Limp Bizkit. Granted, I haven’t actually listened to the track yet and am already glad that it isn’t the awful Behind Blue Eyes cover, but it’s… Limp Bizkit. The band that proudly made music for guys that popped the collars of their polos, frosted the tips of their hair, or wore their baseball caps backwards for the better parts of 1997-2001. Wes Borland is a good guitarist, but I’d be happy not ever hearing another song by the band for rest of my life. As for the Offspring track, I hadn’t heard it until today despite being a fan, but I really like it.
Odd week indeed.
-Kyle A.
Also, I’m getting this out of the way before people start spamming the comments with it- where is Pantera? There, now we can focus on what is here.

another crappy week. id get beverly hills if it wasnt so damn easy
Pretty boring week, nothing here stands out at all.
Just meh.
“If you’re wondering…” is a good song, I’ll probably buy that. And ocean avenue, just cause it reminds me of jr. High. The offspring and bizkit songs are so boring….Beverly hills is boring for the instruments, especially drums, but it’s a good song and has some good guitar solos, maybe I’ll get that. Ok week. Sort of.
Wish List:
Korn
STP
Bloc Party
VHS or Beta
Joy Division/New Order
Get Pantera out there already!
Eh, could’ve chosen better Weezer songs. Decent week.
@Kennorz
I cant believe nobody is complaining about Weezer, but Pearl Jam sucks? I call bullshit. This is what, the 4th Weezer pack? The charts are worse than PJ, the lyrics are much worse than PJ, they dont get nearly the acclaim or sales of PJ, but nobody here is saying “whats with all the weezer, we get too much”? LLLLLLAAAAAAMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEE
Strange tracks for this week. I like Limp Bizkit and Weezer, and the Offspring is my favorite band… and yet, I don’t think I’ll be getting any of these tracks.
We need Black Sabbath, Pantera, Creedence Clearwater (BORN ON THE BAYOU), Velvet Underground and Aerosmith
Well said. =] I’m pretty happy this week anyway, looking forward to the Weezer & definitely ‘Ocean Avenue’. It makes me happy when I see songs come up for DLC that I’ve loved for years but never thought about them coming to rock band.
Yellowcard?!?!?! Fuck YEAH!!!
I was hoping they were going to put Way Away but Ocean Ave. is awesome anyway!
@Boostafa
They’re probably gonna “surprise us” with Spongebob: Xmas edition songs.
God, I hope not. Sorry Spongebob fans.
What? No Christmas tracks this year? Thanks for the lump of coal Harmonix.
Looks like another week of the “Harmonix Savings Package” where you wallets remain full. Honestly, they should have got some older Limp Bizkit for nostalgia. Rearranged or something like that.
And to the suggestion of Korn…please make it “Follow the Leader” or earlier. “Issues” might get a pass, but Life is Peachy/Follow the Leader was their best stuff in my opinion.
The band list was promosing when I first saw this.
The song choices however, seemed like Harmonix just spun the wheel and picked a random song.
I would have bought 4 tracks (Weezer and Offspring) if the tracsk were good, but these all suck. Beverely Hills is also the song that I hoped would never make a music game, it was the low point of Weezer’s career. I would much rather have any one song from Blue album than this pack.
Picking up Yellowcard and The Offspring for sure. But really hoping for a better week next week. Its my birthday! GIEF ATREYU!!!!!!!!
December has been one big bust already, even November has been just meh.
pantera is the new texas flood.
bring some mastodon dlc while you’re at it! blood and thunder! oblivion! divinations!
I might pick up Beverly Hills but otherwise just another bad week. If Harmonix want some tracks that would be good on every instrument they need a Yes 3-pack – Roundabout, Starship Trooper, and Long Distance Runaround.
Pearl Jam is one of the best bands to have songs in RB along with Rush. Maybe you don’t like Pearl Jam, but calling them a crap band is not right. Weren’t they like the top selling band of the 90s?
Actually fairly decent selection. Imma get something. What I dunno. lol.
one of the worst weeks in a while….
@Nathan Mixdorf
dude YESSSS good fucking list. Every single band on there would be amazing
@AnthonyC
Yeah, this month has been like the Akili Smith of DLC, seriously terrible, terrible stuff, i havent even considered buying one song (well, except the free one, obviously)
Am I the only one who wants punk-pop? Metal is getting boring. ALL TIME LOW please!!!
haha this is alright picks, not the best songs from the artists though. i find it funny how the 2 songs im gonna get are noth titled after places in California, Beverly Hills and Ocean Avenue
@Shepherd
Same, except I couldn’t even get that cause I don’t have XBL Gold! Bleh.
I haven’t bought a single song since November. What the heck is Harmonix doing with all of these bands who are already overrepresented? Fresh blood, please.
@Bradmasterd
Ya, Seriously, who has fun playing cannibal corpse on drums, it’s more like a death sentence than a fun game
I might as well offer my imput too…
Arcade Fire
Bloc Party
The Bravery
Coldplay (perferibly anything off Parachutes and Rush of Blood)
Depeche Mode
Franz Ferdinand
The Hives
Phonix
Silversun Pickups
Sonic Youth
TV on the Radio
Build a bridge? really? not even semi-good limp bizkit songs? really?
Yeah, I like those ones. Those would be awesome.
More Bad Religion please?
nothing very interesting since the queen pack for me!
i want:
new order/joy D
more talking heads
the bravery
more REM
been waiting for ocean avenue forever, i’ve downloaded frets on fire just to play that song (but unfortunately it failed to work.) I really hope it lives up to the hype of me waiting for a year to play it :O
So do you think there will be violin charted in Ocean Avenue?
New Weezer sucks, they need to put up more Pinkerton!
Your right, I should calm down and not voice my opinion on the subject if all I do is flame.
Besides, this isn’t about Pearl Jam, its about the DLC announcement.
Not excited at all. I’m really hoping for You’re Gonna Go Far Kid in the future though.
Bring back the full album downloads with Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm! That would be perfect.
@Questionable
Heck yea!!
Can I get a triple heck yea up in this mutha!
Another week of nothing for me. HMX really shouldn’t take 22nd of December DLC so lightly. I mean the 22nd and 29th of December should be their two biggest DLC weeks of the year! Think about the promotion RB would have with 1) people buying these songs for xmas and new years parties and 2) people receiving Points Cards to buy the DLC for Xmas Presents being able to spend it on the new good dlc.
I hope the 29th has some really good DLC cause otherwise HMX really missed a golden opportunity…..those two weeks should have @ least 10 songs each with a nice and wide variety.
Like me! Lol, i get cards for xmas and I must say they did pick a bland amount of choices this week, that’ll just save me $!
Harmonix realizes that these weeks will be really busy DLC weeks, hence why they’re releasing tracks that appeal to tons of people. Sure there may not be much variety, but when the little variety you provide covers a huge proportion of the RB-playing fanbase (IE: people who enjoy mainstream rock music), they’re pretty much guaranteed big sales from these weeks.
EG: Maybe they aren’t what you’d call “true weezer fans” but there’s probably 500 people who like for every 1 person who likes Pinkerton, simply because Beverly hills was so overplayed.
TL;DR: Harmonix may not be providing tons of variety, but releasing the DLC they have been around christmas time is a very smart business move.
Weezer and Yellow card should be plenty fun. Surprisingly the Limp Bizkit song is semi-decent. Just sounds like Linkin Park. Not something I’ll buy but it’s not the horrid, ear retching pain I was expecting. if NOTHING else was on the radio I’d let it play in the background.
Look u guys need to quit complaining. You say every week is disapointing. They put out good songs every week. Not sure what kind of music you like if you don’t like slipnot, nirvana, weezer etc. I am personally glad no christmas songs! That is the last thing RUB needs. Just be happy they actually take the time and do the songs they do every week. Could be worse take guitar hero for example they make DLC about once a month or less. If you want christmas toons go play guitar hero! If you want to sugjest a song go to rockband.com!
i think they should put a extra game MOD or something to turn on swearing for songs that way they can open thier horizon a bit more with Hot Dog by limp bizkit or something. theres nothing worse that waiting for a huge FUCK from lamb of god, but its so disatisfying
@drakee753
yeah, that’ll never happen. they would have to change the game rating to M, and that would kill sales.
I disagree with you.
Rock band should have more variety, like christmas songs (of course not corny ones… like Trans Siberian style)
Nirvana I dislike, Weezer is okay but not these 3 songs, and Slipknot plain out blows. (IMO.. )
So really the DLC has sucked for those of us who don’t waste $2 just because the song sounds hard, even though we hate the song…
Well…since this has somewhat turned into a “these are the bands I want in RB” thread….
Rolling Stones
CCR
Hendrix
Pavement
Built to Spill
Black Keys
Guns N Roses
The Strokes
Dave Matthews Band
Flaming Lips
There are many more I’d like to see…..but this would be a good start.
dave matthews would be great. go canadian music@Bob
