Looking to grab some quick DLC packs while you debate renting Lego Rock Band versus buying it? Tried Lego but now want the real thing? Sister and girlfriend hogging Band Hero? Well, you’re in luck*. Our favorite yellow-tagged retail chain and the company that ate Funcoland are offering some stellar deals on some Rock Band gear this week. Here’s a quick rundown:
Any (Metal, Country, Classic Rock, TP 1 or 2) Track Pack, any system: $19.99
Rock Band 2 (game only), any system: $19.99
Rock Band 2 (bundle), any system: $99.99
Many of the Mad Catz accessories from last year (cymbals**, wired bass, portable drum kit, etc.) are also on clearance for far less than the MSRP. Also, remember that a good chunk of the songs on the Metal and Country track packs are still exclusive to the disks, so if you like at least half of the songs these things are a steal.

*Unless you want to export Lego on Wii or your PS3 doesn’t want to wait until the 12th to export, of course.
**Which you can just so happen to find an old review of here…

I’ve been hearing that Harmonix told rental stores to destroy their import sheets that come with Lego Rock Band..just a possible heads up
@cjt217
Yes I heard that was the case as well, pretty smart if you ask me.
Wow I thought that all track packs were $19.99, then I realized how much money Harmonix would have lost. This seems to be a steal, too bad I have most of the track packs. D:
@cjt217
Any bets that a large number of rental store employees will, amazingly enough, have the LRB tracks in their RB2?
damn, thats what i war gonna do
A buddy of mine manages a couple of California Blockbusters and said that they got a note about doing exactly that when the shipment arrived.
Funny, today at work I decided to buy LRB anyway. Think I’m gonna buy the RB2 bundle as well just to get the drums finally. Been looking for a cheap(er) alternative..
I only rented, for the hope of exporting, and the fact that I need to save my $$ for MW2, and the fact that it was $60 everywhere, not $50.
My friend might be getting the game though and he doesn’t have anything to export it to so he’ll give me the code.
I work at blockbuster and when we got the games the import sheets were already gone, or I would have snagged them all and sold them.
Seems like a good deal for the odd few out there who don’t own RB2. If I didn’t already own most of the songs on the Metal Track Pack, i’d pick it up for the BOC song, but it’s not really worth paying 20 bucks for.
Sweet, time for some early Christmas shopping!!! Possibly another Rock Band 2 disk for me too, my disk only works now after wiping it down for several minutes, telling it what a good game it is to try and build its ego, and then praying to every religion till I find one that lets my game work… So yeah, might be time to get a new one at a pretty good price.
yay now i finally have a good enough reason to buy the metal track pack…i guess.
oh yeah i have a question. if you buy a track pack like the classic rock, what will happen if you already own some of the songs off of that track pack?
@MAZTUHMIND
The game just ignores the copy. It’s seamless.
The only reason why I’m *still* waiting for the Country Track Pack exclusives to come out to DLC and am not getting that disc is I don’t want to have wasted disc space by having dupes of some songs. Since you have to download the entire track pack in one go, and you only have one DLC file for DLC song packs, you can’t really get rid of a single song from either place. Yeah, it’s probably only a couple hundred megs in total, if that, but that’s still wasted space on my hard drive.
Hurry up and release the songs as DLC HMX.
Any idea if EB Games (or Gamestop, for those of you south of the border.. okay probably most of you) still accepts accessories for trade-ins? Such as RB2 guitars?
@Mr. Jones
the gamestop around my house sells used guitar hero controllers and fender strats so i see yeah.
I just rented Lego:RB and was able to get an export sheet and the code worked just fine
Good Luck to the rest of you hoping to do the same.
I’ve already got the first two that were released for the 360.
Metal isn’t my genre of choice. I hate to admit it, but I’m actually considering Country – again, not my genre of choice, but it might be good for when I play with my friends.
These packs have all been around $19-21 for a while on Amazon.
@Mr. Jones
Actually, I believe that most if not all Gamestops are not taking in trades for guitars right now. From what I understand there are so many of them taking up space in the warehouses that we can’t afford to take any more in. (Yes, I’m a Gamestop employee) Once enough small children buy our used guitars, I’m sure we’ll take them in again.
@Jon
Yeah I didn’t think it would still be possible. Hmm. I just don’t like the rock band guitars at all.
hm… 13 country tracks I don’t own for 20 bucks? that’s a damn steal.
Also, one of my madcatz cymbals just died completely, so if they’re on sale, getting a two pack will not only replace the one that died, but add the third one I need for my collection (I am aware of the inability to easily attach a third cymbal without the three-cymbal kit, but I know ways to jerry-rig it.)
